EXPLORE UNDERWATER WORLD LANGKAWI
Arapaima, a Jurassic fish, is the largest freshwater fish in the world and can grow to more than eight feet. Also on display are “Tapah Fish” (Wallago Catfish) and Freshwater Stingray.
The section consists of three connecting tanks with a river-flowing concept and displays many species of freshwater fishes from South East Asia, the Amazon, Africa, North America and Australia. Fish on display are Tropical Garfish, Albino Patin, Bala Shark and Redtailed Catfish.
Within this section, a series of specially designed tanks housing unique reptiles such as Leopard Gecko, Chinese Water Dragon, Indonesian Blue Tongued Skink, African Fat Tailed Gecko and variety of small snakes.
This large walk-through aviary will give visitors an experience of being in the heart of Tropical Rainforest environment. The elegant Flamingoes, the playful Ruddy Shelduck and proud Pheasant will greet visitors as they enter the section. Look for our flight birds such as Cockatoo, Doves and Macaws that flutters freely in this section. Also on display, there are the Knifefish, Giant Gouramy, Arowana, and cute furry Marmoset.
Features playful South American Fur Seal and African Penguins. A walk through on 8-meter Tunnel will enable visitors to see African Penguins swimming around in an environment as close as possible to their natural habitat.
The star attraction of UWL, the Rockhopper Penguins, awaits the visitors in this section. They got their name from their behaviour of jumping from rock to rock. These penguins, also known as “rockies”, are the smallest of the crested penguins.
This section is made up of the Hexagonal Tank (Themed “Sunken Ship”). Among the fish in the 70,000 litre Hexagonal Tank are the Black Tip Shark and White Tip Shark.
Venture into the deep sea along a 15-meter long tunnel, where you will experience being surrounded by Giant Stingrays, Giant Trevally, Giant Groupers, Olive Ridley Turtle and other schooling fishes.
Koi Pond is set in an outdoor lush and vibrant tropical scenery with splashing sound of cascading waterfall. The Japanese Carps together with Sultan Fish, Cichlids are found here.
Unusual and peculiar sea creatures originating from Southeast Asia such as Japanese Mitten Lobster, Knight Goby, Snowflake Moray Eel, Blue Devil Damsels, Green Carpet Anemone, Mudskippers and many other interesting species are on display here.
This underwater coral garden with an explosion of delightful colours is a part of the living treasures of the ocean’s delicate ecosystem. Clown Fish, Damsels, Wrasse and other corals provide visitors with a glimpse of the symbiotic relationship that exists amongst the inhabitants of the coral reefs.
Although seemingly calm and inviting, these Moray Eels and Lionfish hold deadly weapons in disguise of their needle sharp teeth and spiny fins.
