First up is the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, also known to many as Korea’s most popular cherry blossom festival and the biggest spring festival. This festival was originally celebrated to remember Korea’s national hero, Yi Sun-sin.

Hwagae Market Cherry Blossom Festival
Four full kilometres of white and pink cherry blossom flowers – do we have to say more? Hwagaejangteo market is filled with delicious seasonal treats during this period. Think cherry blossom flavoured ice cream and cherry blossom oysters!
The road here has a special nickname too: Wedding Road. It comes from a myth that says couples who walk down this road together will have a happy life together!
When to visit: late March to early April
How to get there: intercity bus from Seoul Nambu Bus Terminal to Hadong Bus Terminal. Walk 100m from the bus terminal.
Nestled away from the city lies Nami Island, one of the most popular places in Korea to view the sakura flowers. The Island is covered with stunning pink flowers and you’ll be sure to get amazing photos here!
Popular viewing spots at Nami Island include the Water Stages Swimming Pool. After you’re done with your photos, head over to the family-friendly theme park and a roller skating rink nearby!

Jeju King Cherry Blossom Festival
Heading to Jeju Island? It’s home to the Korean King Cherry tree, a rare hybrid. It may be a little harder to catch the flowers here as they only hang around for a few days on this rare tree. Be sure to check the cherry blossom forecasts for this area before heading there!
