Japan theme parks closed till 15 March due to Coronavirus

Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea, and Universal Studios Japan will be closed from now till 15 March 2020 due to the coronavirus.

Oriental Land Co., operator of the Tokyo Disney Resort, says that closure of the parks is to help curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. Additionally, the Japan government has requested to cancel or postpone large-scale events for two weeks.

This is the first time the two Disney parks will be closed for an extended period since April 2011, after an earthquake and tsunami hit Japan that year.

The parks are scheduled to reopen on 16 March 2020, but will confirm later on after consulting with government agencies.

Anyone who has purchased tickets on the affected days will receive refunds or extensions of their expiry dates.

Check back regularly for updates on the reopening of the parks.
