01: How do I reserve a Travel Pocket Wi-Fi?

You may make your reservation on our website – http://www.travelrecommends.com/WiFi_Router/Reservation with the following steps

  1. Fill in the reservation form with your travel details and personal particulars.
  2. A reservation email with the payment details and method will be sent to you.
  3. After payment has been made, inform us via email with your transaction details.
  4. A confirmation email will be sent to you, securing your booking.

02: How do I collect the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi?

While making your reservation online, you are able to choose between Self-Collection at Travel Recommends booth located at KLIA or Courier Delivery.

Self Collection

Once we receive your email with your payment details we will send you a confirmation email with the collection details.

You may then collect your Travel Pocket Wi-Fi from Travel Recommends booth at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Departure Level), 64000 Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. (Located at the departure entrances of Gate 1, Gate 2 And Gate 3.)

Courier

Once we receive your email with your payment details, we will send you a confirmation email with the delivery details.

Your Travel Pocket Wi-Fi will reach you at least one working day before your indicated departure date. For example, if the indicated departure date is 2nd Sept, the device will reach your indicated mailing address latest by 1st Sept.

The courier charge will be RM10 for each way.

03: Is it possible to rent a Travel Pocket Wi-Fi for the countries that are not listed on the website?

Only countries listed on the website are available for rental.

Travel Recommends is working to expand our Travel Wi-Fi coverage in more countries to serve you better.

04: I am travelling to more than one country. Can the travel router support multiple countries?

Besides our *Europe routers, most of our routers support connectivity for a specific country. It is not suitable to use in other countries and multiple countries. For instance, the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi rented for Singapore is not usable in Hong Kong.

However, we do have a package that supports coverage in China, Hong Kong and Macau; as well as an Asia Package that allows you to travel to two or three ^Asia countries at RM45.

*Our Europe routers support the listed countries in Europe: Albania, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Vatican.

^Asia countries include Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.

05: How is the rental fee calculated?

You pay for the rental of the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi instead of data consumption. The fee is based on the number of days travelled.

For instance, if your travel dates are from 1st Jan to 7th Jan, you are charged with 7 days of rental.

06: Is there any deposit required?

Yes, a deposit of RM200 will be charged upon payment and refunded within 3 - 4 working days after the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi is successfully returned.

07: Can I make last minute reservations?

For last minute reservations that are fewer than 5 working days before departure date, please call our hotline at 1700819813 to check availability.

08: Is there a user guide on how to use the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi?

Yes. A user manual is enclosed in every Travel Pocket Wi-Fi pack to guide you.

09: How do I start using the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi when I am abroad?

Please follow the set of instructions below:

  1. Turn off mobile data on your smart devices to avoid costly roaming charges.
  2. Turn off automatic notification updates to prevent excessive data consumption.
  3. Enable the Wi-Fi function on your *smart devices.
  4. Switch on the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi.
  5. Search for the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi SSID and select the network name on your smart devices.
  6. Enter the password indicated on the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi into your smart devices.
  7. Get connected onto the internet.

*Smart devices: mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc.

10: Can a non-4G mobile device be used on the 4G router?

Yes. As long as the devices are Wi-Fi enabled, it can be connected to the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi. 4G refers to the connection speed that is being transmitted when the user is accessing the internet. Speed and connectivity varies across different device models.

11: What is the router's network range?

The network range is approximately 10 metres in radius without any obstacles.

12: What is the battery life of a fully charged-up Travel Pocket Wi-Fi?

The average lifespan of a fully-charged up Travel Pocket Wi-Fi is about 6 hours. This is an estimation as the lifespan depends on the number of smart devices connected to the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi, data consumption and the condition of the radio wave.

13: If there are issues with the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi, can I troubleshoot it?

Try to restart the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi or reset it by pressing the "reset" button that is at the corner of the router. Alternatively, try to re-insert the SIM card and restart the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi again.

If the problem persists, please take a photo of the router and email hello@travelrecommends.com indicating the issue faced.

14: How do I return the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi when I return to Malaysia?

While making your reservation online, you are able to choose between Self-Return or Courier Return.

Self-Return

You may return the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi at Travel Recommends booth on the day you return at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Departure Level), 64000 Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia. (Located at the departure entrances of Gate 1, Gate 2 And Gate 3.)

Courier

We will contact you and arrange the return one working day after your indicated return date. Our courier service will then collect your Travel Pocket Wi-Fi from you based on agreed arrangement. For example, if your return date is 4th Sept, we will contact you on 5th Sept to arrange our courier to collect the device from you.

15: Are there any penalty charges?

Late Return Penalty

A late fee of RM30/day will be imposed from the second day, after the end of the indicated return date of the rental period for the following countries – Australia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea and the United States of America (U.S.A.).

A late fee of RM70/day will be imposed from the second day, after the end of the indicated return date of the rental period for European countries.

For example, if your return date is 4th Sept, a late penalty will imposed from 6th Sept if you have not arranged for the device pick-up or returned the device to us via self-return.

Cancellation

If cancellation is more than 5 working days before the indicated departure date of your trip, there is no penalty, and the total amount will be refunded to you within 7 working days.

If cancellation is done within 5 working days before the indicated departure date of your trip, there will be a penalty fee of RM50, and the rest of the amount will be refunded to you within 7 working days.

Accidental Loss

If you do lose the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi, please make a police report in the country where you lost it and present the report to us as proof of loss when you are back in Malaysia.

The charges for loss or damage are as follows:

  • WiFi router and SIM card: RM600
  • Carrying case: RM50
  • Converting plug: RM50
  • Accessories: RM25
  • Portable charger: RM50
  • User guide: RM50

Note: If you have purchased the insurance of RM30, you need not pay any penalty charge of cancellations or *loss of Travel Pocket Wi-Fi.

*Must be accompanied with police report as proof of loss.
